China wants Michael Jackson

For those of you who are not aware, a Michael Jackson documentary by the name of "This is It" has been made in his memory. The film consists of footage from the concert tour that Jackson was rehearsing before he died back in June.

The film has already gotten so popular that many of the preview screenings are already sold out.

The Associated Press has been informed by Sony Pictures that the Chinese government has approved for "This is It" to be shown in China later on this month. The world wide release for "This is It" is scheduled for October 28, 2009.

This is a huge thing for China because they only allow 20 foreign films to be shown in their country per year.  The most popular American film shown in China was "Titanic" until "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" broke the box office record.

Plans are being made to release many copies of "This is It" all over the world. Michae Jackson was well known all over, and I believe this is going to be a huge hit for him even though he is no longer with us.

  1. Wow. I knew China was very watchful of their media, but didn't know they only allowed 20 foreign films a year to be viewed. Jackson was world-wide famous so China would be foolish to not allow "This is it" to be featured.

  2. I agree, this is definitely a surprise for me to hear about this and the fact that China only allows an x amount of foriegn films to be imported. Dispite communist influence I could see another reason why they would do such a thing because their action movies are pretty interesting to watch.

  3. I am not surprised that Michael Jackson's "This is it" is one of 20 films being allowed to be shown in China. Jackson was a world-wide phenomenon, and in spite of how weird the better half of his life was to everyone, his death still came as a shock and tragedy to most, at least it did to me. I always enjoyed his music and wondered about his personal life, but, I must admit, for some reason ever since I found out he died I have been strangely fascinated with his life, and the more I learn, the more tragic I think both his life and death were. He was an immensely talented performer and the type of artist that literally only comes around once a century, so I think he should be celebrated everywhere.

  4. I had no idea that China only allowed 20 films a year. However, I'm not really shocked that they would allow "This is it" because Micheal Jackson was such an influential and amazing artist throughout the world.
